Meet the Farmer
Hi! I am Meghan DeGroot, the woman behind the flowers. I grew up on a sixty five acre horse farm just outside of Ocala, FL and was always the little girl who watered the plants that needed it in the nursery section of any store my mother took me to, and the one who helped the injured animals that I found on the farm. When I started raising animals on my own and growing flowers, it was, of course, a natural fit. Oddly, growing up, no one ever peeped a word about becoming a farmer to me, even though my early aptitude test showed it as being a real possible strength. In the past, it just really was not something that women did and with it being such hard work, I don’t think my family really wanted this life for me, but what I discovered is pure magic. Yes, it is exceptionally hard work, but I love the feel of the dirt in my hands, the sound of the ducks trumpeting in a row, and the joy I get to pass on every day by growing these little bundles of hope that find their way into my community. This is my tenth year growing flowers as a professional grower and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it!
